Lil help with lugnuts plz

I bought a set of ion alloys for my 66....I understand the size is 7/16x20 but the lugs need to be like 1 3/4 er 2" deep? Not shank style they are acorn? I guess....the Dell's that sold me the wheels gimme his lugs ....the were deep enuff, but threads were too big....my question is what would I ask for when searchin? I find several 7/16x20 but not very deep?
Sorry if I sound unedgumacated!!! Lol

Re: Lil help with lugnuts plz

Not many options for deep 7/16" lug nuts. I think Crager sell some deeper ones but not sure if they will still be deep enough. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cr...2b-4/overview/

You might have to go with open style lug nuts or cut your studs shorter.

Those look like the short ones he already has.

For 7/16" threads, there are almost none out there. Every other size they seem to be available in the long lengths.

Re: Lil help with lugnuts plz

The problem is that when the lugs are threading......they sink in too far in the wheel....where a socket or 4 way has nothing to "grab" to tighten em...

Thanks all for the helpin...they gotta be out there........

Re: Lil help with lugnuts plz

These are what I got for my 64.

Amazon.com: AccuWheel LNA-07160C5 Chrome Bulge... Amazon.com: AccuWheel LNA-07160C5 Chrome Bulge...
They are barely stick out on my Eagle Alloy's

I also because of some damage, I had to replace a few wheel studs and used ones a hair longer. Dorman 7/16 x 20 Wheel Lugs (610-165)

Re: Lil help with lugnuts plz

I think I actually ended up using an impact socket. I just kept trying 3/4" deep sockets of various brands and kinds until I found one that would fit.

Re: Lil help with lugnuts plz

Yep, I use a deep impact socket (Harbor Freight) for mine. It just clears everything.

Re: Lil help with lugnuts plz

IF the nuts you have only grab by a few threads then you need something like these you might have to use a thin socket and NOT a 4way http://www.ebay.com/itm/24-ET-Style-...ZWeIOS&vxp=mtr

Re: Lil help with lugnuts plz

These are even longer than the ones Palf70Step posted.

Amazon.com: Long Bulge Acorn Lug Nuts 7/16"... Amazon.com: Long Bulge Acorn Lug Nuts 7/16"...
The ones jtrichard posted might help as well, just be sure they don't bottom out before the wheel is tight.

Re: Lil help with lugnuts plz

I would still recommend some fancy thin wall impact sockets. They would save you from scratching up those wheels. Gorilla makes sockets with a removable plastic sleeve just for wheels like yours. Summit carries them but you may be able to find them cheaper somewhere else.
