72 burb body to 2001 burb chassis - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I've checked the build area and didnt really see much on this. So I am assuming that it hasnt really been done that much. But I have a 72 burb wanting to put it on a 2001 burb chassis. I know that the 2001 wheel base is a few inches longer but what else if anything am I looking for issue wise besides body mounts. Anybody else done something like this.

I spoke with a man on the Power Tour this past year who had a 72 burb on a 03 ish chassis, he did not do the work him self, so was not helpful at answering questions...

I did peak under the truck. The frame was shortened and some one had custom fabbed body mounts off of the newer frame to meet the older body. To me it really didn't look all that nice, you could see a lot of the frame. I see the draw as you get updated steering in most cases. and drive line etc.

I'm sure others will chime in.

Pretty sure I looked at that Burb too. The owner didn't seem to want to talk about it and now I know why. I suppose you get updated suspension and brakes though I don't see that as better than what my Burb has.

Here is a picture of it on the newer chassis and apologies for my finger in the way.

The reason why I am asking is that my frame is twisted and instead of completely rebuilding and having it starightened I would just find a newer rolling chassis and mount the body on it

My lowered 71 drives better than my wife's 03 Yukon. I would just find a 67-72 frame.

Depending on what year and what options were on the new chassis it could be advantageous. When Drew built Frankenstein, he got rear steer. You could get AWD. You could get ABS brakes depending on what you kept.

I don't get the "it doesn't look right" stuff. Function First! Then form.
