41k original mile on ebay

Not mine. Just came across it. Claims to be 41k original miles

I haven't spent a lot of time looking at the pictures yet but if it is as original as claimed it might have some good interior and engine room pictures to use for those doing original restorations.

This one has been repainted. Low grade truck with AC and Body mouldings added. I posted the Spid in the Blazer spid thread.

A couple things I notice. Front seats are standard buckets, but the back seat has a utility bucket seat cover. Also, it's been painted. Masking marks on the vin tag and door and under hood stickers. Lots of fresh undercoat. Not a terrible thing, just not original.

The bucket seats can come that way with the back seat utility.

Seems odd it would have just the warning light gauges.

My 72 plain Jane Jimmy has the exact same covers front and rear.

I do a searchtempest.com search everyday and this Blazer was on craigslist in Ohio
with a plow on it for $4800. I called and it was already sold . Was listed as a 1 owner and was sit to g in a garage . Somebody is going to make some $$$$ on this one.

I don't know if it is a true 41K but what it is --is a special ordered truck by an individual. Base model, with options lower trim no cst stc. I owned a 72 like that years ago. Same seats, AC, Tach exterior swing away etc.

According to the questions and answers on the listing, it had an $8,500.00 paint job, and they are looking to get $29,900.00 for the K5.

I am impressed they were told a $4,800.00 snow plow truck had an $8,500.00 paint job.

Ya, I'm the one who asked that question. It's a nice blazer, but obviously cleaned up. Could be a winner…… also could have a lot of stuff hidden. Possibly worth about 10K less than that, but I would have to see it in person.

My question is - What the heck is that red cylinder mounted up by the upper radiator hose? It looks like a coil, has a hose that runs all the way across the engine bay to who knows where, and a wire with a wire nut on it. Leftover snow plow gear?

That's an inline electric heater for the coolant.Truck must have come from a cold climate.
Must be nice not to know what that thing was !! LOL

I've heard of oil heaters to thin the oil down in really cold climates to help starting. But I don't understand the need for a coolant heater. Isn't that the engine's job? If your coolant is freezing, seems like upping the antifreeze content would solve that problem. Also seems like that thing wouldn't do much to warm coolant in the radiator or block. But hey, you learn something new every day.

The passenger seat belt is long like the trucks instead of short for a blazer. The picture of the passenger side is gone now.

The device is actually a pump. Up here in Canadaland some of us utilize a block heater that heats up the coolant in the block. It is essentially an element that fits in place of one of the freeze plugs in the block. What the pump does is circulate the coolant now it is being heated to get to important places like the heater core. When it is -40f outside warm coolant in the heater is very much appreciated. If you were to just start up an engine in those temps and get in and drive, assuming it would start of course, it would take you probably 5 mins of driving before you feel any sense of heat what so ever coming out of the vents. 15 mins of driving would yield it comfortable somewhat. Even "plugging in"as we call it doesn't give instant heat, it is more so just for the engine to be able to start and not get damaged doing so. Coolant pumps aren't really common anymore that I know of, don't think they were that common back in the day, kind of an add on for a tinkerer I suppose. The whole idea of a coolant heater has absolutely nothing to do with preventing the coolant from freezing, proper coolant mixing is essential to prevent things from expanding and cracking.

I know of one in blue ridge GA that is supposedly an original owner, never driven and Always garaged in showroom condition. Black on black I think. I need to see this thing. Apparently this person will never part with it.

That truck was a factory utility bucket truck per the SPID. Sport buckets were added.
