1972 "Ol Blue"
I've been regretting selling my full Porterbuilt frame soon after I sold it.. But it went to good hands and the truck turned out nothing short of beautiful. With the frame gone, 2 parts trucks laying around and being around some awesome C10 builds... It's been killing me!
So I decided it was about time to get started on my own. I had an idea in my head of what I wanted, something that looked classic but just a hint of modern features. That's where the help of Keg Media comes in, they nailed the rendering for me! With the help of my friend Chris Stafford (He built Clyde and is helping build Silver Fox) we are putting a nice plan together for my truck "Ol Blue". Wheels/Tires: Raceline Commotions 22x8.5 & 22x10 Toyo Proxes STII 265/35 & 285/35 Suspension: LongShot Fab Front Crossmember Custom Back-half built by Popeye's Rod Shop Either Moser's 12-Bolt or Moser 9" Baer 13" T4 (Front) Baer 13" SS4+ (Rear) ordered from Travis at AzProPerformance Air Management will be controlled by Airlift Performance H3 System Motor/Trans: Will be a 6.0L LS with mild cam swap & tune Transmission will be a built 4L60 from Transmission Builder Guy Still working out how I want to dress them out Body Mods: Still in the planning stage, won't be anything crazy. Have a few ideas in my head for something different for the bed. And some new carbon fiber tubz from a man that needs no introduction on here, Mike Losh. That is the plan for now. Some of the major parts should start rolling in soon. Have to get in line at Popeye's as he has some badass builds going on. But that'll give me time to start doing some rust repair on the cab. Re: 1972 "Ol Blue"
Haha, I knew it wouldn't be long before you got back into one, especially being around Chris and his builds! Just don't sell this one (until it's done at least)!!!!!

Re: 1972 "Ol Blue"
Thanks guys! Trying to knock out the "big ticket" items first. Wheels/tires, Air Management & Motor. I have a 5.3L already, but it needs a trip to the machine shop. Thinking I can pick up a better 6.0L for what I'm going to have in the 5.3L.
That's right! Couldn't take it any longer.. I picked up a super clean 94 to build, but knew I wouldn't be happy till I got back to a C10 build!! |

Re: 1972 "Ol Blue"
Not much of an update on the truck, but it kinda goes hand & hand.. I picked up this truck to build, but decided to build Ol Blue. Yesterday I sold it and made a kid very happy. It is Chris's nephew and his favorite truck was Chris's truck the "Mobster". So he was all too excited to have his first truck the same body style. Better news for me, never hurts to have extra money in the bank for the C10!

Re: 1972 "Ol Blue"
Hahaha! Yea.. I was kinda sad to see this one go. Already had it pictured in my head static dropped on some Coy's. Would've made a clean driver!

Re: 1972 "Ol Blue"
I do as well! My 2nd favorite body style for sure. It went to a kid that has loved lowered trucks, so it went to a good home.

Re: 1972 "Ol Blue"
Checked off a couple of big ticket items today...
Go the wheels ordered, 22x8.5(5.25BS) and 22x10(4.00BS). Also splurged some on the brakes with Baer T4's up front with CPP spindles thanks to AZPrpPerformance! Went a little different on the caliper color, went with Hugger Orange. I have it looking good in my head, hope it turns out that way. Looking for something different but not overstated. |
