Stepside bed assembly

Do you guys put anything between the fenders and the bed side? Or do you go metal to metal?

Chris

Re: Stepside bed assembly

Mine are metal to metal, some argue that fender welting holds moisture and causes rust. Good arguments for either way. I've not had any issues metal to metal and my truck lives outside in southeast Virginia.

I put seam sealer on mine. Not sure how it came from the factory.

Re: Stepside bed assembly

My step side bed fenders and steps had sealer in them and there was some Rust there too. It is being put back together metal-to-metal after the paint job is complete.

Re: Stepside bed assembly

From my findings, GM assembled the entire bed (with some sealer for fenders and steps) and then painted the whole thing as an assembly. Wood and all.
