Brake adjuster hole?

I just installed new rear drum brakes tonight. When I put the new drums on I discovered the adjuster hole had not been punched out. I can see where the hole has been stamped, but after pounding on it for thirty minutes I've made little to no progress. Any hints or suggestions on how to get the stamped adjuster hole removed?

Re: Brake adjuster hole?

Assuming it's elongated, drill out each end, then file away the material between the holes. Try to get the size right so a rubber plug can seal it up.
