Question on mounting deluxe side mirrors

I have a 72 which had some after market side view mirrors on it when I bought it. I picked up a pair of the deluxe mirrors along with the mounting brackets. The question I have is how do the mounting brackets attach to the door? I looked at them quickly the other day and I might have missed something but it didn't look obvious.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You just drill holes to mount the mirrors, and the brackets go on the inside of the door. You probably need a helper if the glass is in the door

The right side mirror mounts further back from the door edge than the left side. I don't have the measurements with me, but I believe that it is 6" on the left side and 7 1/2" on the right side.

Scott ; I mounted mine as close to the specs that were in the Assembly manual ,JimKshortstep4x4 was right they do mount differently ,and it helps to have someone hold the Right side mirror to test your visibilite B4 mounting .

If you need pic's let me know.

Thanks everyone! Hopefully I'll have a chance over the weekend to try and mount them.

BTW, how is the mounting bracket attached to the door on the inside, and how is the mirror attached to the bracket? Holes needed for both the mirror screws and the bracket screws?

The info and pics are great and really appreciated.

The door skin just gets sandwiched between the backing plate and the mirror base. Mounting screws go thru the mirror base, thru the door skin and screw into the 3 holes on the backing plate.

Hey ScottH I had the same question and this is what Wes mailed me.

The drivers side is 6 7/16" from the front of the door to the center of the front hole. Then 3 1/2" from the top of the door to the center of the front hole. The top of the top rear hole is 2 7/8" from the top of the door. The passenger side mirror is 8 1/4" from the center of the front hole to the front of the door. The top of the door to the center of both front and rear holes are the same as the drivers side.
