Bout ready to more not the bed.
Ok, we have the bed assembled and ready to mount on the frame. The new cross members no longer had the flat angled section welded, you simply place them under the cross rail and against the frame.
I have bought the recommended rubber pads as shown in many of the truck catalogs, they are slightly more than a 1/4" think. These go on top of the frame but under the cross rail. It could be loss to my memory, but I don't remember seeing any rubber it other type pads between the frame and cross rails. Anybody can chime in. These pages can from LMC. Thanks Jake

I have not owned or seen a '60-'66 truck with any sort of pads between the cross sills and the frame/bed mounts. Some sort of cushion likely wouldn't hurt, but 1/4"+ would seem to cause a misalignment of the body lines.

Ive done three beds and have always used the rubber pads and this helps align the body lines in my eyes. Ive taken one original truck apart and it had some sort of pad there but it was really degraded and some were missing.

These are the pads. One pictures by itself and one mounted under the metal guide that came with the cross rails.

Mine didn't have any, and i don't think the bed was ever off of the tk. I used the pads and my body lines are right. Have to look for a picture before i took the bed off.
