Blazer gravel guards

Are gravel guards a 72 thing or where they on earlier years? If so can somebody share the years and are the the same?

Re: Blazer gravel guards

The 72 ones are a 72 only thing and only for the blazers and jimmys not the trucks. Good luck on your journey to find some. Not reproduced as of yet.

Re: Blazer gravel guards

I think 71 also had them but the ones for the trucks will work for 71 I could be wrong I'm sure someone will chime in if so. I have a rough set of 72's and maybe another a set of not so rough will look and let you know.

Re: Blazer gravel guards

I believe they were available on all years with a sport bumper, but 72 had a little different design because of the rear frame rails being angled.

Re: Blazer gravel guards

Just a little FYI for anyone who doesn't know, this but the Gravel Guards are being reproduced! They are made by Counterpart and are sold thru The Truck Shop. They are $11.00 each. I bought some a couple of years ago and the quality is very good.

I took a look in their catalog and I don't see the 72 gravel shields being sold. They only list the flat 69-71 ones that also fit the trucks.

Re: Blazer gravel guards

Another quick question. Was the gravel guard color black or the color of the body?

Re: Blazer gravel guards

Both the 1972 2wd and 4wd had the special gravel guards due to the different frame at the rear.

Re: Blazer gravel guards

Thanks. So what do they do exactly? Protect debris from flying up between the bumper and body?
