Re: 72 longhorn build

A few months ago it was paint time! 16 yr old doesn't want a YELLOW truck. Of course he wants a matte black truck.

Replaced the steelies with new rims and tires too!!

Re: 72 longhorn build

Could have sent to painter but..... good memories with my boy, and single stage matte black is a breeze to lay down..

i know from experience that its worthless to put a high $$$ paintjob on a kids truck who lives on an island and goes to the beach 4 times a week.

Re: 72 longhorn build

turned out good... we did the grill and some trim in gunmetal grey.

this was also the time he got 10 inch subs downfiring under the seat, new mids and highs, amps , and a new pioneer head unit.

Re: 72 longhorn build

sometime in there I taught him to drive a stick with no power steering.

He's putting it to use.

Re: 72 longhorn build

a couple weeks ago.... spring break and the thousands of girls with bikinis was approaching, so it was bed cover time. ( he figured this is a must have for girl watching at the beach )lol

a little plywood on angle iron keeps the bed uncluttered.

then wrap with waterproof foam and marine grade vinyl from the boat shop.

done!

Re: 72 longhorn build

so now this is happening, but its going terrible.

he wants to keep the muncie, said it reminds him hes in a cool old truck.
the 350 has a comp cam and a few hopups.. i have a holly 650 for it next week.

i could not get it to fit on the 250 I6 mounts in that spot...
I READ EVERY THREAD on here saying it would work, but damned if me and 3 other men could get it. had to move to forward holes with different towers and clamshell mounts. sits in great with lots of room for the HEI distributor. but now my damn crossmember for trans is not going to fit, and my driveshaft is the 3" short. the headers i have that fit great on rear mounts now hit the bigger clamshell type. these are the problems we address in the morning.
Any tips or help would be appreciated.
