Will a 4L80E require shortening a driveshaft?

Anyone happen to know if there's enough room in the driveshafts and carrier bearing to take up the additional length of the 4L80E or will I wind up shortening a driveshaft?

I have the two-piece shaft, it's replacing the TH400. I can speculate as well as the next guy, just curious if anyone's done it before.

Going with the 4l80e has a longer tail shaft and slightly longer body. I was told I could go with a 1 piece shaft when I do the swap and get rid of the old drive line and bearing.

Dave, I have a 4x4 LWB one piece drive line you can use to shorten if you go that way.

I had mine shortened for the 2 wheel drive LWB truck. Ended up having them put in a 1 piece due to their screw up. They cut the 2 peice to short.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Hmmm... mine's a Longhorn, so it's (wait for it) longer. I wonder if I could still get away with a one-piece?

Why did they use a two-piece anyway? Harmonics, or ground clearance, or what was the impetus I wonder?

being a longhorn , Id keep the 2 piece . one of the reasons [of many] they used the 2 piece design was because of length ,,,shortening your shaft is easy for a "competent" drive line shop

My LWB truck came with it. I had the one in the truck with the 700-r4 shortened. I bought another one for 20 bucks for a spare. Both where 2 piece shafts. I never had it cut though so when I did the 4l80e swap I had them cut it down. They screwed it up. They cut before they measured it twice! I really don't know what happened only they paid for it.
