Hi I have a 1985 can someone tell me if I am missing a radio face plate? right now its bare metal no plastic going around the spot for a radio.
Planning on installing the radio next weekend. And someone asked where the face plate is? any one have pictures of the radio area?

Re: Raido faceplate?

Re: Raido faceplate?

The plastic guage bezel is supposed to extend down around the radio. The original radios were a 2 knob style. Many people wanting upgrades had to cut out the metal panel and plastic bezel to allow for the single DIN radios.

Re: Raido faceplate?

My buddy just sent me a picture yes its been cut out.....
Best way to remedy this? or should I just use a radio that will fit the cutout?

I already bought a classic radio

Re: Radio faceplate?

Its pretty common today to see where someone installed a newer stereo.

Unless you're hard set on going back to stock look, I'd look for a good replacement for this cutout:

or go to the Double DIN GM radio style used in then 89-91 Blazers and Suburbans:

Problem here is they also cut the dash so you need a repair piece to weld in the metal dash or something to adapt back.

Several have had these for sale in the Parts Board Area:

Re: Radio faceplate?

The bezel acts as the faceplate. Mine is an 86, and the radio mounts in the dash and then the bezel finishes off.

Re: Radio faceplate?

Looks like I would need to have someone fabricate some metal or just buy one to fit in the cut out area.
