New cab vs body work... HELP!
Hey guys and gals. I wanted to pick your brains about something. Ive got a 1969 C10 short bed. I just finished the last few pieces on my Chassis. Ive got everything finished from front to back. Now its time to get after the cab and bed. My bed is in wonderful shape but my cab not so much. I know that I need cab supports, new firewall, roof skin, complete floor pan, cab corners and rockers. Would it be better to try and track down a rust free cab or to pay someone to just do all the metal work. I was planning on doing it all but after having the cab sand blasted it is something I would rather not do due to time and not having the necessary tools. If any body shop guys are reading this please chime in. Also if anyone knows of any rust free cabs please let me know. I am in Oklahoma and don't mind driving to pick one up. Need HELP!

Re: New cab vs body work... HELP!
I went through the same dilemma last year and even had a thread on this site about it. After getting over my emotional attachment to the cab (it was dad's truck since before I was born) I decided just to get a better cab.
If one cannot MIG weld sheet metal, it's going to get very expensive very quickly and then what if your hired help screws ya? |

The best thing to do would be to just get a quote from someone you think you can trust and a second one from someone else. If its more than a new cab there you go. My 2 cents. Good luck!

Re: New cab vs body work... HELP!
If you can get a clean cab for a decent price I would go with that. Your cab is going to need a LOT of repair.

You will save a lot of money finding a better cab to start with.

Re: New cab vs body work... HELP!
Looks pretty bad. Search for a new cab honestly. You've waited this long. wait a little longer. Youll be happier in the end. nice garage

I agree with most of the guys here. I think repairing your old cab is gonna be a lot more work than it's worth.
