Painless wiring harness, reverse lights dont work

Hi everyone I have a 1971 chevy c20, last fall I put in a new painless harness in my truck part number 10206 the 28 circuit one. Since I have had the harness in I havnt had reverse lights that work when you shift it in reverse, when I took the harness out there was wiring going into the trans and with the new harness there isnt, I dont know if that was and input to the reverse lights or not. Also on my neutral safety switch I only have the two purple wires going to it. When I put the backup fuse in the lights stay on constantly no matter what lever position its in. Has anyone installed this harness and have a solution or know what I did wrong?
Anything helps thank you.

Do you have an automatic transmission? If so the neutral safety switch should have four terminals on it. Two for the starter and two for the backup lights.

You should have a dark green wire coming from the fuse panel behind the BU light fuse, and another light green wire going from the neutral start switch to the rear BU lights. The wires going to the transmission were for standard shift transmissions, although some automatics might have had a switch in them that closed when reversed was selected.

It appears that your harness has the two wires connected together, which explains when you install the fuse the backups are on all the time when the key is on.

Trace the harness from the fuse panel, and see if you can find the two green wires near the NSS.

You might also want to call painless and ask them what they know about the backup light wires in the 28 circuit harness.

Ya it seems the only two green wires under there are going to the ignition switch and the instrument cluster ill go ahead and give painless a call today and see what they say

Figured it out, the two green wires were tucked under the carpet so I didnt see them, plugged them in and they worked right away, thanks for the help
