Putting the cab on the frame?

I'm getting ready to drop the cab on my '67 C20 frame. Are there any frame-to-body alignment considerations or do you just drop it on and bolt it up?

Anything that makes shimming the fenders or aligning the rest of the front clip easier later?

Thanks in advance...

Set it in place and loosely install the cab bolts , you'll have to move it around to get it squared up and have it all work together , it won't just fall into place and you may have to add or remove spacers to get it all aligned and have the hood open and close correctly along with having the correct front door edge gaps .

Drop it on and bolt up but then take some measurements to assure the cab is square on the frame. This can be done as simple as taking a reading from the frame to rocker on each side, hoping the tape reads real close to same. Jim

Ah - OK. So square it up as best you can when you drop it on, but leave it loose so you can nudge if necessary when the front clip goes on.

Yep , and have some different sized spacers/ washers to get it all aligned , you can save some time by Xing it out on the frame to get it as square as possible before moving on to the next panel .

Re: Putting the cab on the frame?

I used a large C-clamp to rotate my cab a bit to re-align it for the cab-to-frame bushings. I had the cab off the frame on two wheeled jacks, using a lot of wood to block up on top of the two jacks. You may have a better set up.

The pic area is under the driver's side.

The clamp pulled it right around! Now I may have to go back and shim it but that'll have to wait.

That's pretty slick. "Micro-adjustable".

What ever you do, don't buy the poly cab mounts! I had to make spacers to allow the body lines on the bed match up with the cab, they were way off!
Hope you catch this before spending the cash, best to use OEM mounts(rubber biscuits)

Ugh. I've got the Energy Suspension poly bushings. Which brand did you use?

I use the rubber body mounts from classic with the sale they were $58.00 shipped the poly/ urathane will also squeak and moan when your turning corners or pulling into a driveway . No fun !

Well, I no longer have the box mine came in, but they sound like the ones you named. I'm probably going to replace mine in the near future.I bought mine through LMC by the way.

Re: Putting the cab on the frame?

For a long time I wanted to go to poly bushings but I went with rubber after asking on here. I got my set from Wes at Classic Heartbeat.

Re: Putting the cab on the frame?

I've used poly body bushings on multiple vehicles and never had any creaking problems

I have had creaking in my suspension with them used there, but that was because I didn't use the lube liberally like they tell you to do. After a pain in the ass re-lube even that stuff went away
