For oil I use Delo400 from Wal-mart. It's inexpensive, but great oil. It's made for diesel engines which have to have oil cleaner than gasoline. I've used this for almost a year now and before that was Castol GTX. The Delo400 looks much better after 3 months of same driving as the Castrol was.
FYI: I use Wix filters from O'Rilley's Auto thanks to this site's info. Never buying a Fram again ![]()

For just a regular engine and if you change your oil and filter every 2500-3000 miles, then most brand of oils like Quaker State, Pennsoil, Vavoline, etc. should be OK. The high mileage oil seems intriguing, but in reality could it be just hype to get another dollar from us?

Pic your premium brand of oil, and change it often....

I use Valvoline High mileage 10W-30. It is good stuff. Use a couple other brands of high mileage and this seems like better stuff. It slowed down the oil leak from the 2 piece seal. JUST DON'T USE FRAM AS YOUR OIL FILTER! I use AC Delco oil filters.

My reasons: 1. very few pleats 2. lousy-made poorly supported filter "paper" can fall apart blocking oil passages & the pickup screen, ruining your engine. Seen this many times. Ford 2.3 4cyls seem to die a sudden death from them, usually before they even make it home from the wally-lube. 3. They even look cheap on the outside. 4. Guys like me who are strongly opposed to them will rib you relentlessly until you remove it. ![]() |
