Re: electric speedo

LS1nova has done an extensive write up on using a 96-97 s-10 cluster (non tach model) and remove the speedo and use various parts from it and ad a metal box on the back, vinyl overlay, add a trip odometer, etc. I did it when i installed a 5.3 ls in my 68 c10. I originally had a 5,000rpm tach with the stock gauge cluster paired up with a small block. I spun that 5,000 rpm tach around once and it was screwed up upon running the 5.3 for the first time. I sourced a 8,000 rpm tach kit when i did the ls1 nova cluster mod. Between the 5.3, ls1 cluster mod, and getting cruise to work, these are my favorite parts of my drivetrain changes.

In the search box type in electric speedo and you should find it easily. I don't know how to reference it in a link because i'm 59 years old and busier than a cat covering crap on a marble floor lately with my house from hell. Good luck!!

Re: electric speedo

Also, depending on cable throttle, or drive by wire, you may have to send your pcm out to have the tach read correctly. Initially the 8,000 rpm tach had the correct signal but had to be rescaled to read correctly. A member here with the avatar name of "CRITTER" handled the rescaling issue for me and other pcm changes and is great to deal with.

If you are going to run a 4l60/65e PM me and we can discuss some programming options to help narrow up the possibilities so you can get as many changes done on the first programming. I'm running the gm #411 pcm.

Re: electric speedo

Redline or Cable X converter (Dakota Digital now has a competitor to it, also) unless you want to DIY. Redline was quite reasonable but had a long lead time IIRC.

Detroit Vintage has a fully electric setup that looks 95% stock. Spendy, but very, very nice.

I'm about to pull the trigger on the dakota unit once I save a few pennies

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
