3 leaf rear pack.
Drag radials and cal trac bars, and their recommendations on shocks.

Re: Traction Issue

I bet you've got a big block under the hood and you've got a short bed, maybe a significantly lightened short bed, in the back. Serious front-end weight bias. See if you can find a way to move the center of mass of the thing rearward.

Re: Traction Issue

A scoop of dirt in the back should fix it

Re: Traction Issue

My duramax does the same thing, roll into the throttle and it hazes tires up through the gears. Fun actually. On the rare occasion someone really wants to play I just reach over and hit the 4x4 button, problem solved

Re: Traction Issue

I'd throw some weight in the back and see if that works. If not then stickier tires.

I'd expect a short bed to have a better weight bias - and certainly easier weight transfer - than a long bed. That's certainly how it is with C&Cs with no bed.

Re: Traction Issue

Added weight isn't necessary.

No it's not... and it's never a good idea when you're trying to go fast, either.

But different weight distribution might be a good idea if you can swing it... move the battery to the back, shift the gas tank rearward, etc. etc.

Re: Traction Issue

I used to have the same problem with my old C10; decent power and no traction. Gotta love those little Hondas revving up their fart cans and leaving me at the stop light because I'm spinning. I always said I was going to but 31 or 32" BFG AT's on it to see if that would hook up, never got around to it.

It was a joke hence the smiley face.

Technically speaking, even hooking with stock tires is doable with some suspension tricks. I run 1.8 60 foot times on the original F70-14 bias plys in one of my cars. With a few simple tricks on my chevelle it goes 1.5 60's on a drag radial.

With the right setup a pickup truck can be easily made to hook at the track. Just have to spend some money and tweak on it, and it can be done with a small tire

Re: Traction Issue

The PO put traction bars on my '76 step side.
The bumper on the right side is hammered flat, while the driver's side is still in decent shape.
My guess is that there's some serious wheel hop issues when he got a heavy foot. I wouldn't know----I'm just proud to drive it---too cheap to pay tickets, and don't have much to prove to the kids, anyway...

Re: Traction Issue

I would just throw some real good stickys on it. No point in adding sandbags in the bed if youre looking to get power out of it.
