Re: Nice pair you have there!

I had a Dodge back when those were made, when stickers, bold paint jobs, and bolt-ons were king. Not being a buy-in type of guy and always preferring older iron, I built my version of what a 4wd could be

Re: Nice pair you have there!

For some reason I knew you would be the one to respond to this first! Not because of the title, but because of the trucks of course!

What year is that? I like it, kind of has a Jeep front end about it. I restored a Vespa some years back, had it all race modified, but I painted it that same color.
Are all those pics the same truck and you just dropped the step bed on it? Gotta love those tires too! Gives it that nice well rounded stocky(not stock) look, I take it there is no lift on it?

Re: Nice pair you have there!

Tim, I always like seeing the trucks you post on here. They remind me of the ones my dad and my uncles had when I was a kid. I still like the 70's and 80's 4x4 look!!!!

Re: Nice pair you have there!

I used to think Dodge and International pick up's were the ugliest trucks ever made but now I think they were probably just ahead of their time and I like them.

Re: Nice pair you have there!

Trail Dusters were cool. I never understood why they didn't eliminate the upper window frame on the doors.

Thanks! Yes, it's the same truck. It was a '69 W200. Believe it or not, it was rusted out in '77 when I bought it. There weren't many around even back then. When the 37/14.50 Tru Tracs came out I had to have them (from Cepek). No lift kits were made, so I took the front leafs off and arched them using a sledge hammer on an anvil...blacksmith style! I got 3-4" over on them. Those trucks sat lower because the 2wds also had solid axle/leaf suspension. I made blocks by stacking pieces of spring, drilled center holes, welded together. They were bolted through. The wheels are whatever Cepek was selling, but not Jackmans. I bought a '68 D100 Utiline (Stepside) and used the cab, hood, and bed when I did a frame-off. The color was a factory 68/69 Dodge truck color, pretty much the same as what was on it when I bought it. It was originally a bright green like 7-UP used. I always liked the utility/forestry/parks/logging 4wds with stepside bed look.

Here are a couple more pictures I have of it

Re: Nice pair you have there!

My friend bought one of those like the orange one new. His was silver. He kept taking it back for warranty stuff and ended up getting rid of it and buying a used Chevy, which is what he had before.

Dodge built the bad 4wds till the '70s, I must say. They were they one to catch in the 4wd department. They built true 1t 4wds, double cabs, and even a W500 from factory. I can't believe they gave up their legendary name "Power Wagon" to start naming them after a sheep.

Short bed 3/4t:

One tons built on straight rail frames like a medium duty, like GM did in '92 with the C3500HD:
