Biggest size rims and tires?
I have a 1987 gmc high Sierra gmc and is completely stock I want to put some Mickey Thompson Classic rims on it and some more aggressive tires. I was wondering what would be the best sized setup for my truck. I would post pictures of the truck but I don't know how on my cell phone.

Upload your pics to postimage.org then paste the forums link on here. 31 X 10.50s would look nice and clear ok, I've heard 33s do for some but others do not.

Re: Biggest size rims and tires?
C10? K10? Bigger?
From what I've read, 31s are about the biggest that won't rub stock, although it depends on offset too. My '73 C20 tires are metric size (245/70-17) but they work out to about 30.5" x 9.5" and I haven't had any rub (but it's really stiff suspension and I haven't tried flexing it out). When you say aggressive, how aggressive do you mean? ATs? MTs? MTs are loud, get crappy mileage, and wear faster vs street tires or ATs so unless you really need them I'd go with ATs.

Re: Biggest size rims and tires?
I figure any old 33's should fit on a 2500 pretty easy.. I think a 265/75r16 is about 33" and should fit easily.

Re: Biggest size rims and tires?
33's can rub enough to bend the rear of the front wheel well anytime your wheels are cranked hard over and you have significant shock compression. Not saying it will be a guaranteed event, but worth keeping an eye on.

Re: Biggest size rims and tires?
You sure that's stock ride height? Doesn't look like it to me.

Re: Biggest size rims and tires?
Usually happens coming around a corner, down a tight steep trail. Off camber nose down / rear corner high, stuff the tire hard with weight forward toward one corner and wheel cranked hard over. If it's a stock front leaf spring with no lift you'll most likely get tire contact on 33's.
