Sierra or Sierra Grande?

Hey fellas, got a '72 that is currently in the shop right nor and a thought crossed my mind. I took the glovebox out to fix a water leak (rust windhield channel which is getting fixed right now) and it says Sierra Grande Equip but that badges on the side of the truck are Sierra... The vins all match i believe. The truck not being with me i cant look to see if she still hass the roset rivits, but im curious if the truck might not have came with absolutly everything to make it a Grande or did it come as one and someone made it a Sierra? It has every bit of fancy trim besides the upper chrome on the exterior.

Thanks!

Re: Sierra or Sierra Grande?

Again this is a case of a description being misleading.

Your truck is a 72 Sierra. IMHO, given the Z84 RPO code and 603 vinyl trim code/description.
On 72 Sierras, Fremont assembly used the SPID description Z84 SIERRA GRANDE EQUIP.
On the upgraded 72 Sierra Grandes they used YE9 SIERRA GRANDE CUSTOM and had a cloth trim code/description as well.

Re: Sierra or Sierra Grande?

Yours is like mine, a Z84/Sierra marked on the SPID as Sierra Grande. As Tim said, go by the code. The "printed word" is not the gospel.

Re: Sierra or Sierra Grande?

since its not a grande like you thought was possible, i can understand the let down. il go ahead and take the truck from you so it wont continue to cause ill feelings for you./ free of charge also

Re: Sierra or Sierra Grande?

No way man haha I picked the truck up to match my grandpa's 1999 Sierra which is just shy of the top of the line model, so if anything they match even better now lol

It's not grande, it's big.
