Gap in door window felt molding! Leaking! Please help!

Hey guys,

My truck always has had small side window leakage when it rains since I bought it and took off the chingy looking chrome window deflectors that it had when I purchased the truck. Especially on the passenger side.

Today when I replaced my carpet I can tell it's been going on for a while because I have some rust on the floor where the floor meets the kick panel. If I ever get the truck repainted it will need rust repair in that area for sure!

I temporarily put the window deflectors back on until I can find a solution, because I don't want my new carpet getting wet and stinky again.

I notice that there is about a 1 inch gap on the felt looking molding at the top of the door where the window meets the top when the window is fully rolled up.

Is this gap normal and if so or if not, what can I do to keep water from coming in??

I just noticed the exact same thing on my 67. The window chanel run had shrunk 1/2" I rolled the window down and pulled up on the chanel run and slid it up and forward towards the vent window. It clearly has shrunk over the winter months. Junk new rubber product's

Mine is kinda a hard felt looking material is yours too?

So do you think I can just try to slide it forward to eliminate the gap?

Is new molding also going to be gapped like this? Surely not, right?

Any ideas to fill this gap?

Just as 72mario said lower the window , pull the channel seal loose from the door and pull up sliding the channel seal forward enough to fill the gap , easey peasey ! Less than 5 minute fix . It didn't shrink it just slid back .

That channel seal runs all the way down inside the door in the rear track. I just installed new ones in both of my doors. Because it is so long you might need to remove the door panel and work the seal along (up) in the lower part pf the channel (inside the door). New ones are cheap, I got both door sets at Manes.

I add a little bit of weather strip adhesive to the backside side of mine along the top to prevent it from pulling back down. Just keep the window rolled up for a few hours so it's kept tight and can set.

I discovered my seal over time just slid down the steel channel little by little, there was a bit over 1"-2' hanging free at the bottom, i just replaced it.
