1966 K10 Rear Break Hard Lines
Replacing the break lines on Goldie.
Does anybody have pictures of the routing of the rear break lines on the differential. PO put some on but they are not routed correctly so I am getting new lines and want to know what the correct routing is. Thanx

Here are pics off my 66 k10:
First pic is taken from under the bed, pointing towards the front of the truck. Inside frame rail on passenger side. The hardline connector you see is almost lined up with the transfer case. Bracket for "transfer case to frame" can be seen in background. Hard line seen in previous pic follows curves of inside frame til it meets at this point and connects to rear rubber brake line. Still on passenger's side of frame. This shows route of same rubber brake hose from previous picture to hard lines on rear axle. Passenger side close up: Drivers side close up: Metal tabs on either side of pumpkin that hold the hardlines to the rear axle make me want to say that these are the factory original hardlines as well the correct routing of the lines. However, I am not 100% sure, and the route the hardline takes to get "around" the pumpkin looks a little too sloppy to be stock. I'm sure some else can chime in if they know more than I. |

A few photos of another K10, differences from year, or factory??? This truck built at St.Louis plant. Routing and parts are the same along right frame rail and hose connection to frame rail line. It differs where the hose connection attaches to the hard lines lines on the rear axle. The hose connects above the pumpkin via a tee to the axle hard lines. These lines have two clips that connect them to the rear dif cover under the cover bolts. The lines are also armored. On the axle, the right and left hard lines have two welded clips on each side that attach the lines to the axle. Also the rear axle lines in photos are not in their original position, they have been moved/bent/loose some for removal, you can kind of see where they were. Photos below.
The wheel cylinders and hard lines on axle look like they could be original. The tee block for hose and two axle lines, needs more research, maybe??, kind of fits other lines on truck, sort of made up from other parts as GM was just getting into 4x4s???? Thanks everyone for the responses.
Here is what I did not exactly like pictured but I think it will work. I also decided on the dual MC so I bent up the lines for it.
