Exclamation Engine numbers

I have found a number on the block right side by the petcock it is 51803 and one on the left head it is 51802. Could anyone tell me what size the motor is, I am going to sell it and the 3 speed trans with other parts that are original to the truck.

Thanks

Re: Engine numbers

Post a photo of the engine, enough to block, head and valve cover.

Re: Engine numbers

Pontiac based GMC engine. It should be a 316 if it is a stock in that truck (56) engine.

Here play with this a bit http://www.1955gmc.com/1955-59gmcguide.html
