Grill Guard Value
What's the value of an original period correct grill guard? This would be the one with the tabs at the end of the wings and bolt to the top of the bumper in addition to the ones in the center. I know--it's what someone will pay but looking for a fair estimated value if ya'll want to throw some numbers out there.
Thanks, Dave |

Re: Grill Guard Value
I paid $100 for the one shown in the picture and felt like I got a great deal. I don't really see them come up for sale very much

Re: Grill Guard Value
I bought the GMC version for $200, and it needs plenty of metal work. Bruce

Re: Grill Guard Value
Most people don't want them on their rigs and I wouldn't have either UNTIL I hit a stray dog that decided to suicide in front of my car in 2012. There wasn't even time to back off the gas pedal and I was driving 10 mph below the speed limit, fearing deer.
Later, I hit a black bear with the same car (still had full coverage, woo hoo!) and even though I managed to slow to perhaps 20 mph I still needed a new hood, headlight, fog lights, front bumper cover, and front grill brace. I bought a Luverne grill guard from a member here, it doesn't have the wing tabs, but is 3/8" thick all over. I think I paid $160.00 plus shipping. I could call the guy and ask him. Would you sell that one? |

Re: Grill Guard Value
So my mind errs on the side of making me feel better.
"We never pay too much, we pay too soon" ---a guy over on www.thegreatmodel8.net forum. In other words, if you wait, it will cost way more. Very funny about the clueless shipping lady. I once dropped a 4 D cell Maglite and it really did chip a bit of sidewalk concrete off. The grill guard weighs a lot more than that flashlight. And the grill guard is 3/8" thick all over. As far as shipping goes: bite the bullet and go on, that's what I do. If you wait, you may never see another one. |

Re: Grill Guard Value
Thanks again everyone--lots of good inputs. Correct on the shipping comment. I have one brush guard similar to the 2nd image but the holes don't line up perfectly so am assuming it's for a post 72 truck. Might just do some tweaking and use that. Would like a correct one though.
