WTB: Short Bed Frame (Coil Spring)

Looking to buy a Short Bed Frame (coil spring) to replace my long bed frame which turned to rust dust.

I am really only looking for the frame including the engine cradle and all original cross members. I do not need all the other chassis and suspension, but will consider rolling chassis.

I'm planning to weld up my rusty cab, but would be open to cab / frame combos if the cab is rust free.

Willing to travel distance to pick up.

FYI - that one in Cleveland is rough. My buddy looked at it and said it was pitted and had signs of welding in a few areas. He is negotiable, but just wanted to give you a heads up.

I'll keep my suspension, you can have all cross members and frame rails to my long bed frame I have posted on here, for $200. It's a good, solid frame. Or you can have the whole thing for $350 - this weekend only.

Re: WTB: Short Bed Frame (Coil Spring)

DA68...thanks for the tip on that one in Cleveland. I had seen that one and been thinking about it. If finished right, I have nothing against prefinsihed frame, but at least when its unfinished I know what I'm getting (i.e. can see welds and pitting) and what has been done by me. I'll probably cross that one off the list.

Appreciate your offer on the longbed frame too, just not willing to cut and weld a long one yet.

The one in Springfield MO looks nice.....its a bit far but not too bad....maybe if I can deal on price.

That cab/frame in Pittsburgh would be nice if it was a real frame but it looks like its a custom frame set up for diesel. Cab looks rust free though.

I have one bought that I will be getting sometime before mid-May, don't know how much of a hurry you are in. I purchased it from a picture, so not sure what I will find when I get it, but looks pretty good. It has a cab with it that appears to be pretty rust free - again pictures can be deceiving!
If you can wait that long I will send you pictures of it and we can decide where to go with it after that. I live in Columbia, MO which is almost dead center in the state. Thanks, Jay

Jay,
Sounds good. Let me know when you receive and what the condition of each is. I'm in no big rush as I'm out of country for work last week of April and first week of May so the timing may be just right.

Re: WTB: Short Bed Frame (Coil Spring)

I have 2 bare frames on Shelburn, IN. One is a 67 frame with minimal rust above the rear suspension where they are double plated. $350 and the 2nd one is a 71-72 frame with no rust but needs work. Both front frame horns are bent up but I have a pair cut off of anther frame that I will include and the very rear cross member is damaged but I have one out of another frame that I will also include. $250 picked up in Shelburn, IN. Approx. 20 miles south of Terre Haute/ I70 exit #7.

Re: WTB: Short Bed Frame (Coil Spring)

Todd, both are SWB frames with coil suspension? I'm probably not interested in the 71 due to the damage and extra work to repair it...if I'm getting a new frame, I prefer to start with a straight one with no welding.

On the 67 frame, can you get me photos of the area with rust above the rear suspension so I can see how bad it is. I plan to get what ever I get blasted, but I don't want it so bad that after blasting that there are pinholes everywhere...that's why I had to get rid of my long bed frame.

Only other question I have (maybe you know), is what is involved to get a 67 frame to accommodate Power Steering. My understanding is they do not have a dimple in the frame by the steering gear but you can use a hammer to dent it in?

Re: WTB: Short Bed Frame (Coil Spring)

Thanks Todd, but I'm all set to purchase the frame from CSBatey. I am still interested in rust free cab if at the right price and location though so if you come across one you are willing to part with, let me know.

Jay, still would be interested in that cab if your willing to separate from the frame...depending on condition of course.

No problem, If it is clean above the axle area, I would buy it also.

Ok, I will let you know when I get it home and take pictures to post - it appears that I will probably try to get it May 5th or 6th if I can make connection with the person in Texas that is meeting me in Pryor, OK with it. Jay

Bob - Finally got my camera rolling and got a couple of photos between rain storms - plan to get some more to post as well soon as I can. Last two of these photos were taken by the previous owner and aren't very clear, but figured they at least show the outside overall.

As you can see cab is in very good shape overall - I didn't get photos of the underside yet, but the cab mounts all look solid so far. Will be posting them as I take them. Jay

Re: WTB: Short Bed Frame (Coil Spring)

Jay...looks to be in great shape! Based on photos, it looks like a 72 cab?

Based on what I see so far, looks like maybe new rockers and small section of the floor need repair which I can handle. My current cab is fairly far gone once I got into it needing whole floor and cowl, rockers, corners, pillars, etc.

I'd be interested in seeing photos of:
1. The underside and supports (you already mentioned getting these)
2. The tops of the A pillars where the drip rail is. Didn't appear to be any holes along the top drip rail right?
3. pictures of the bottom corners of the front windshield where there is a seam with 3 layers of metal coming together (it runs from windshield to underneath cowl panel)
4. I know it can be hard to see, but underneath the cowl into the fresh air vents where leaves usually accumulate and rot it out. Looks good, but sometimes when you look up from below, you can see something. Also from inside the cab, right under the fresh air vents.
5. Center of the dash. Saw the radio was cut...not a big deal as mine is right now as well...but just want to make sure it was not enlarged any.
6. Bottom of the A pillars

Also..does this have a title? If not, I'm not worried as I have a plan.
Let me know what price you are thinking...you can PM me if you want.

Thanks for taking the time for the photos..just do not want to drive all the way out there if I'm not committed.

EDIT: If it makes a difference to you, you can price it without all the extra stuff thats in the cab...I do not need that stuff and you could part them out seperately. I just need a bare cab.
