Hey there everyone. Ive been slowly gathering parts to convert my k5 over from an automatic. Havent had alot of luck finding the conversion parts needed locally. I did find a 73 c10 with a 3 on the tree. A few possible issues tho. Its a 6 cylinder and I have a v8. Also its got manual brakes and I have vacuum. Im pretty sure the v8 zbar is different? Anyone confirm that? Also does anyone know if the pedals from a manual brake truck can be swapped with a power brake truck? Thanks guys

The Z-bar is the same for all engines between 73 to 78. I did not look at later trucks but it should be the same to at least 81. pedals should swap too. But the parts manual shows a different part number for (JB1) manual brakes as opposed to the one for (JB3, JB5, JB6, JB7) various sized power brakes

Thank you. Im getting a good deal on all the parts so it's worth the risk if they end up being different

Well here is a piece of info for you. When I was with GM I learned how GM engineering worked. They would change the part number for the smallest change. up to and including a change in material or manufacturing process. So even though the pedals carry 2 different part numbers they could interchange or worst case be alterable to fit. Personally I have never dealt with a square that had only JB1 brakes. I would bet the only difference is the push rod location is in a slightly different.

there is a difference on the power brake and manual brake set up.. IIRC its something with the size of the holes one wont fit the other.. I ran into this problem trying to find the proper set up for my 74 stepside

A few years ago I converted my 82 1/2T 4 x4 700R4 to a "farmer 4-speed".
I got lucky and bought a roll over 81 4 x 4 with a 4-speed. Came in handy having ALL the parts right there. Was a BIG job. Installing the clutch/brake pedal setup was pain, and if I remember right, also had to use the transfer case shifter that came with the 4 speed truck. I also used the floor "hump plate" from the 4-speed truck.
