LQ 9 4L80 flexplate

I have bolted up my LQ9 and 4L80 transmission. The flat flexplate is snug against the torque converter and I have a 5/16 " gap between the engine block and the transmission casing. Does anyone know what flexplate to use and or if I need to remove a spacer of sort.GM part numbers would be good. The dealership is clueless. Thanks.

I plan on using this spacer. I have purchased it and I am 99% sure thats all I need. I believe That TCI also make one similar

Make sure your torque converter is fully seated.

Hello again. I am missing something. LQ 9 has stock flexplate GM 368 stamped into and a bar code sticker with 531 in red writing on it. On the backside it looks to have a ring about 3/8 " thick attached to it . Six torque bolt wholes six bolts to the crank. Does anyone know if this is the wrong flexplate. Driving me nuts.

removed the flexplate . engine side correct . spacer on the back side, looks like i don't need that .

You need a flat flex plate and a spacer behind it to run a 4L80E, unless you have a custom 4L80E converter with the 4L65e front cover on it.

If you have a dished flex plate and a stock 4L80E converter, it won't work correctly.

I missed the LQ9 part originally, was just thinking 6.0. But if you truly have an LQ9, then it will not have the correct flexplate for a 4l80e, they didn't come with them, so you would most likely have the dished one. You need the flat one with the spacer.

My LQ4 has a flat flex plate and no spacer with the 4L80 trans. What is different with the LQ9?

I assume your LQ4 is an older one like a '99 with the longer crank? The LQ9 was never offered with a 4l80e, they had 4l65e's.
