axle saver bearings?
Hi, I pulled the axle on the donor '65 12 bolt that I plan on building for my truck. Everything looked pretty good, but both axles both have about .020 to .025 wear on the bearing load surfaces. I'm trying to keep this truck on a budget, so I really didn't want to invest in new axles. I'm assuming I would need to use axle saver bearings with this amount of wear? Anyone have experience with these?

I've used them on several cars and trucks. They just ride on a spot of the journal that is still in good shape and I think they have larger bearings inside than stock. They install the same way. You'll be fine.

The Napa bearings are better than others because they don't run the inner rubber seal which prevents oil to the bearing.

The 71 3.07 diff that I way overpaid for is almost shot. Those axle bearing surfaces were really chewed up so yes you can get another go with the other bearings. About the internals, that's another story.
