turn signal cam

I replaced my turn signal cam in my 72, so that it would turn off after I make the turn, but it still wont. It feels kinda stiff, or hard to turn on the signal too. What gives?

There are two little springs on top of the turn signal switch, called Turn Signal cancel spring. One to cancel each direction. They break all the time. New spring is 13 cents at GM dealer. They are different left and right, so make sure to get the correct one.

I believe the springs are red and blue from the dealer.
