1968 C10 Gas Cap

Can anyone recommend where to buy a replacement gas cap for a 68 C10? I used the "search" tool and realize that the easy answer is to go to local parts store and buy one that is vented. The problem is that it only vents in not out. When I remove the nee cap, air build up releases which never happened with my old cap with a bad gasket. I can't imagine that much pressure build up is a good thing. I've never posted posted before because I usually can find my own answers on this site but this time I've had no luck. Please educate me.

60 people have viewed this post and no else has had an issue with the pressure build up when using these replacement caps? I guess it is normal then. I found it to be bit scary to have that much pressure build up on a 65 degree day. I could here the tank making noise when I released the pressure.

Check with Napa I just bought one there Friday and it is vented and it actually works, I had tried 2 different caps from 2 other places that said they were vented and they did not work.

Put this line in and make sure it's vented outside the cab. Then you don't need to mess with a vented cap.

he has a 68 not the pictured 71-72 tank that is completely different than the original 68that he has

Good point, I think 67-70 didn't have any vent line ports. You might be stuck messing with vented caps.

Recently bought my gas cap at NAPA, part number 703-1220. Works great. Thanks for the input jabos. Seems to work great without the pressure build of other supposedly vented caps.
