The Beater

Morning, all! I have used this site for probably 3 years in my research to determine what's what in the world of classic Bowtie trucks. Just recently I added "The Beater" to my family and wanted to share with you guys!

1965 C-10 LWB SBW. Originally a straight six, the previous previous owner put in a 283 from a Corvette with a Winner manifold. Guy I got it from had the 283 and the 350 auto rebuilt about 700 miles ago. He only used it on the farm to take care of the horses.

Since these photos were taken, I've had PS/PB (booster only - disc conversion to come later) and MSD electronic ignition installed. This past weekend I pulled out the bench and put in the '01 Silverado seats.

Not sure what I'll do next. Probably continue work on the interior (which, in a round-about way, includes relocating the gas tank under the bed!) Definitely need a shorter steering column and smaller wheel. (Those newer seats take up a *little* more room. Will move from floor shift to column as well. Definitely needs a 700R4 so I can exceed 65 miles per hour without winding it out.

Thinking of selling off the factory bench seat. Haven't seen any for sale anywhere, so not sure what that's even worth. Mechanicals and frame are in great shape, might need some new bottom foam and for sure would need recovering. (Only a couple of tears on driver's seat bottom.)

Anyway... thanks for all the inspiration!

Re: The Beater

Thanks guys! It really is pretty solid. Very little rust compared to most of the trucks I looked at. It's supposed to be white over orange, so it'll get back there one day!
