Please help-Fan spacer not coming off
So I went to install my shroud, removed the bolts and the fan but the spacer is stuck on, to my knowledge there are no bolts holding it on and I could not find any, before I go to the rubber mallet does anybody think I need a puller or something? The spacers sell as an individual unit so I am perplexed, thank all! Pic below:
Here is the spacer I think I have: http://www.northernautoparts.com/Pro...ProductId=3178 Forgot to mention, shroud will not go in with the spacer there. Last edited by ubtripn; 04-27-2016 at 11:26 AM. |

Re: Please help-Fan spacer not coming off
Nothing should be holding the spacer in seems to be a little froze up give it light taps , I'd use a light ball peen hammer flat side , be real careful when it breaks free it don't going crashing into you radiator .

Re: Please help-Fan spacer not coming off
As others have said, just hit it. The nose of the water pump shaft is just seated into the spacer a tad.

Re: Please help-Fan spacer not coming off
Yeah Stocker, I was thinking same thing. I've never seen a spacer with a clutch fan, but it might be that he's running a short nosed water pump, or smaller shroud. I'd see if the fan fits the shroud better without a spacer. The blades don't have to be all the way inside the shroud. they actually flow more air if about half the blade is exposed outside the shroud edge.
