Where do you put a cupholder?

Okay, I know, this is probably a stupid thread... but I like my coffee, and with three-on-the-tree I need both hands to drive sometimes. The obvious solution is a cupholder, but the '81 C10 I'm driving just wasn't made with a cupholder in mind.

I got on Amazon and ordered a folding jobby that mounts on a vertical surface, and I hung it on my (already crappy) dash just to the right of the bezel. I drilled a couple of 1/8th holes and mounted it with the supplied sheet metal screws.

I had looked at transmission-hump consoles, but those were awful expensive for what you got.

Thought about putting one on the door instead, but I like the dash mount better because it's handy to my right hand, and it's more secure.

What have your solutions been?

I built this for under $100

Oh, snazzy. Did you fasten it to the floor, or does it just ride there?

Re: Where do you put a cupholder?

I had this made from CrusinCupholders. I had left over vinyl from my seat, sent it to them to make the console.

Just sits there. I got lucky with my measurements and it's a perfect fit.

This one is one of my favorites, clean and simple.

I like how it came out and it holds dang near any size cups or drink containers. It doesn't interfere with the leg room much either if I need to haul a 3rd person.

This brings up a good point how did we savages survive in the old days without cup holders ?

We were too busy working to worry about coffee. My favorite line from the crews in the morning was "What do you want us to do?" while they had a coffee and cigg in each hand lol.

I have a $10 plastic console on the hump that seems to work ok. My buddy uses a roll of duct tape laying on the hump and never spills a beer.

And you just showed how dependent and lazy todays society has become Everyone has to have their gadgets now.

I still survive without them. I drink my coffee before I leave, and if I have something to drink while I'm out, I wedge it between my hip and the seat belt in my 79 pickup if I need an extra hand. Piece of cake

In the classic cars with buckets, I can easily wedge it between my hip and the console.

I follow one simple rule, I never take a drink in the car that doesn't have a closed top. Usually it's just a fountain drink with a straw. That's how we did it in the old days, nothings changed for me.

Here's mine. Had this same setup in two trucks, and works great.

I didn't even build on to the bracket like mentioned above. Just screwed it to the seat frame.

Re: Where do you put a cupholder?

I answered that problem with a GM console. But I hate bench seats so moving to buckets made a console a no brainer for me.

I found this one, and I just love it. Got it from LMC a few years ago.

Re: Where do you put a cupholder?

I just use a roll of duct tape resting on the seat. It cheap and has more uses than just a cup holder. Lol

I did what CStanley did. Removes and re-installs very quick and easy.

Tuffy Security products. Just be careful about putting a large Sonic cup in the front if you shift into reverse.

Re: Where do you put a cupholder?

I once saw a guy who had two coffee cans screwed down to the transmission hump next to the t-case shifter. Worked great for him.

Yepper....I prefer factory style buckets too. And it provides a nice sized enclosure to hide my digital amps and crossover stereo gear too!

Re: Where do you put a cupholder?

This was my solution. I chose this because my dash was crap anyway, and I didn't mind putting a few screws through it. Oh, and note how the snazzy cup is color-coordinated with the truck interior? That was completely unintentional.
