Mirror on 72 windshield

Is it hard to take the mirror off a 72 windshield? Does it leave a mark?
I'm thinking about using the windshield on a 71.

The glue is pretty harsh stuff and it will likely leave some marking. If it does not pull off some of the glass. If it comes off clean, a razor blade can clean it up pretty decently.

Re: Mirror on 72 windshield

It is special glue, and if done right the button on the windshield that the mirror mounts to is almost impossible to remove without damaging the windshield. When I worked on squad cars we attached those same metal buttons to the windshield for video cameras. If we mounted the button wrong, we glued another tab on top of the old one or next to it. We never tried to remove the mounts from the windshields.
