Upper Rad Hose question

This is the second truck I've sen with this setup for an upper rad hose. Is this correct/original with a piece of hose at manifold neck then a steel tube then an hose to top rad connection?

i do believe only 4x4's came with the upper steel tube.

that is a pic of a 4x4 truck...notice the c member.

i dont know exactly what years they did or didnt use them but my 71 has one.

Something about the possibility of a long rubber hose sagging and making contact with the alternator belt.

The engine on the 4 wheel drive trucks sits WAY back compared to the 2x4 trucks. This is so they can get enough length on the front driveshaft. Notice the deep fan shroud as well.

Law of Unintended Consequences: the positioning makes doing some otherwise simple things a lot more difficult, such as just about anything having to do with the distributor.

FWIW, my '69 K10 still has the tube.

Yeah, when you have to rotate the oil pump drive with a screwdriver to line things up and you have a 4" lift and 35's it gets contortionist interesting!

Which is exactly why I converted to HEI back in the early Eighties...
