I've got a 68' long bed that's frame was shortened and I put a fleetside short bed on. Its a pretty rough truck but I was asking $4,000 for it. I was offered a trade. A 83 Shortbed V8 auto, power windows and locks, tilt and cruise control. What do you guys think? Fair trade?

check it carefully that truck looks better than how you describe yours make sure its what it looks like it is

You will have to think about this for awhile...... your 68 S/B is a lot harder to find than this 83. Was you frame shortened professionally..? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE square bodies..... buy a 68 S/B is REALLY hard to find... even a modified one.....

Your truck is worth more to me unless that 83 is super clean no rust and prefect interior.

If that 83 has a completely rust free body, and run n drove good, I'd consider it. Your have a desirable truck, where the 83 is more common. Ultimately it's up to you but I wouldn't even take a look unless that body Is completely rust free.

The 83 better be pristine inside and out or I wouldn't even consider it.
Rusty or not that 1968 short fleet is a desirable truck. The Smog Era trucks not so much.

I would inspect the truck like you're a Concours judge, SoCo. Then I would scour the internet for trucks of similar quality and judge, for yourself and based on your own feelings, if it's a trade up or a trade down.

Truck prices vary, so a $4k truck in Colorado might be a $2.5k truck here (in Texas). I'd just be very sure before trading your truck off that you're getting a deal. Your 68 is more desirable (imho) than the 83. Not that it's a bad truck, but I don't want to be the one to tell you it's worth doing when I'm not gonna be the one suffering buyer's/trader's regret.

Honestly, though? The one picture looks good... but it's just a picture. I don't think I'd trade my 66 for a 73-87... even if the battery tray was pristine and the body didn't need shims.
