Fuel gauge help??? 66' Chevy C10

Has anyone experienced this problem, I put a new fuel tank in the truck with a new sending unit and it seems like the fuel gage wants to work until I turn the blinkers on or the lights and it will pull the needle down past empty or with the blinker on it will cause the gauge to jump back and forth? It seems like it's a wiring issue or a ground issue. Any help or advice troubleshooting this would be much appreciated!

It sounds to me like you have a ground issue. If everything worked before the new fuel sender, I would look there first. Is the ground on the sending unit intact?

Question Re: Fuel gauge help??? 66' Chevy C10

Yes the ground wire is hooked back up to the cab wall just like it use to be? Could it be the fuse box is not grounded good or the steering column?

That is very likely. Use a jumper wire to extend the ground to another location and try again.

OK cool, where would you suggest me tying into the ground into the fuse block or somewhere on the column? Or is it somewhere else that I'm missing.

Try for a structural piece. You can make your jumper wire as long as you need to get to a spot that is definitely grounded.
