Once in a while you get lucky ?

When I bought my 71 GMC from the first owner I was disappointed to notice nine holes drilled in both doors. Three of the holes had rusty screws in them ? I determined that at least three different styles of mirrors had at one time been installed. After acquiring the driver's side sport mirror, backer, gasket and screws needed for the install ,I discovered three of the holes in the door where the factory holes for sport mirrors that where removed at some point earlier. Better yet the backer was still affixed in place on both doors. 15 minutes later after removing the rusty screws the driver's side mirror is in place, never even had to remove the inner door panel.......
