1971 k5 new owner questions

Recently purchased my first blazer. Very rough condition I actually passed on it until I saw the options it had. Factory Ac, tilt, tachometer, auto 350. The downside is that it's body has been hacked up to attempt a truck/blazer Frankenstein and Every body panel is trashed except the hood. I'm thinking this is somewhat rare? So I'm looking for a complete body. Any input/suggestions/advice???? Any and all is appreciated. Thank you. Sorry for poor picture better ones to come.

Congrats on the new blazer! It does have a lot of good options. You don't mention if it runs/drives or not.

Almost everything is fixable now on these trucks(if you are up for a challenge). Get us more pictures of the truck and we can get you a better idea of what your options are.

I recommend spending some time in the blazer projects/builds section to se what others have done and have resurrected these trucks from the ground up.

There are a great group of very skilled people on this forum to help.

Welcome to the forum/addiction.

First off, welcome. Careful buying a new tube, unless you get a title the numbers won't match, even so the frame numbers won't match. Could have a problem with the DMV down the road. Plenty of sheet metal out there to fix anything that is rusty. How are your skill levels, costly to restore if a shop does everything. Post up lots of pics

Re: 1971 k5 new owner questions

Congratulations. i would think any body that you buy will need some kind of repair. Depending on your body/rust repair skills and how much you love it, you may want to just buy all of the panels you need. I am in the process of going through something similar and I purchased all of my sheet metal from Wes @ Classic Heartbeat. You should give him a call if you are thinking about that option. He is very knowlegable about K-5's and all of his parts fit well and are as heavy or heavier than the originals.
Good luck with whatever you decide. The search box on this site has been very valuable for my build.
