'75 lap belt only retractor cover
I have a low mile extra nice 75 gmc. I assumed anything on my truck that is showing wear is likely something that most any truck of this age would need replaced, and would likely be easy to find in reproduction. I find that I am wrong. As soon as you open the door of my truck you are met with an eyesore. The seatbelt retractor cover is rotten plastic. This truck has the lap belt only. I was surprised to see that LMC does not appear to carry this part. Any advice?
Also has anyone ever had good fortune with attempting to "polish" the gauge lens cover? Perhaps with some headlight restore? Mine is yellowing and cloudy. |

I wasn't able to get the cloudiness out of my gauge lens, so I purchased a new one. Can't remember if it was from LMC or Classic Industries though, and I also used model paint on the needles.

Re: '75 lap belt only retractor cover
My '75 also had lap belts only, but when I removed the trim panel on the door frame I found out it had the welded anchor points with bolt holes for three-point seat belts . The hole to match the anchor was also molded on the back of the plastic trim, but had not been drilled out. I found a full set of three-point belts in a junkyard truck and swapped them over to my truck.
LMC sells both lap belts and three-point belts, but they appear to be the same generic models that other suppliers have. Bruce |
