Re: 66 C10 New Suspension

Personally I would stay away from CPP.
Look at the Vendor Reviews section here on the board.
Lots of complaints!
Call one of our board vendors like Pro Performance or use ECE at www.earlyclassic.com.

Re: 66 C10 New Suspension

POL and Western Chassis are owned by the same folks. In fact if you go to the POL store in Carona you can see that and talk to them also (I have).
I have been going with their stuff.
However I did purchase the Early Classic rear panhard bar for my 64 as almost no one else is concerned about the difference in frame mount positions from 65 on.

Re: 66 C10 New Suspension

My wife ordered me some parts from POL. Drop blocks, deluxe track bar and 2 piece bolt on c notch. The track bar and finish look great. The c notch I have yet to install but looks quality made and has a nice black finish that came with all the hardware. I am happy with the products delivery was very quick, nothing was missing. The only thing I would have liked is more detailed directions for the notch, but over all I'm happy with the products. Good luck with your build.

Re: 66 C10 New Suspension

I used cpp for my 65 build. Did complete big brake package along with the complete suspension package, trailing arms, shocks, springs. Everything was bolt on. Good quality. Install went flawless. They also have on-line install directions for all the parts they sell. Prices are also low , I shopped around for all the parts. Couple of draw backs . I am in Ill. and it takes a week min to ship from Ca. And make sure you order the right part! They charge a restocking fee.. I think 20%. Other than that they were very helpful during the whole process. I would use them again.

Re: 66 C10 New Suspension

Ive used CPP and POL and been satisfied with both. Also heard good things about ECE though. I have CPP sway bars with POL control arms and lowering springs and they sent me western chassis shocks with lowering kit. If I order CPP parts I always go thru Summit Racing though to prevent any shipping problems.

Re: 66 C10 New Suspension

Or you could use Rob at No Limits.

I have his front and rear ARB's and shocks, panhard bar and am very happy with the fit and price. However hsi customer service is beyond reproach.

I was mistakenly sent a pair of incorrect shocks, he sent a replacement pair free of charge including duty and shipping to the UK, and I got them within a few days. No quibble.

What are you EXACTLY wanting to do to your suspension.
YES you can use stock tie rods and balljoints as long as they match the spindle you use.
(so in your case,... you would need 63-70 conversion spindles up front if you plan to go to disc brakes)
Are you lowering your truck?
Switching to discs?
Replacing cross shaft bushings on the a-arms?
Idler and pitman arm?
New coils? Drop or stock?
I guess we need more info.

Re: 66 C10 New Suspension

Oh sorry
Thinking 2.5 drop spindles with front disc
Staying with stock BBC front coils. Im using 72 c10 coil since same size. Im installing a 396
Then thinking 4 inch drop rear coils
The 12 bolt rear is already from a 72 but wanting to convert that to disc as well

Wasnt sure what to do next. I did save the center link
Someone had started a front disc standard conversion but im starting from scratch

63-70 conversion drop spindles will allow you to use all 1966 front end components including all 1966 steering parts.
You really only need your '72 centerlink if you plan to use 71-72 spindles and tie rods, which would require 71-72 balljoints.
What about power steering?

I still like ECE for suspension parts and customer service.
Belltech, Western Chassis, and McGaughy's are great also.
You have a lot on your plate.
Rebuild the entire front end with quality parts.
Do the same with your drop components and brakes.
If you can't afford it, wait until you can.

Re: 66 C10 New Suspension

I got the suspension kit from Classic Parts of America. I'd give it a 4 star.
