1/2 ton with 3/4 ton suspension

I purchased a 1968 GMC ½ ton. It rides quite high for a ½ ton and the suspension seems pretty stiff. I’m looking for a stock height and ride. I believe the PO installed ¾ ton front springs and added 3 extra leaves to the rear leaf springs to make it look a little more for off-road. I measured the diameter of the front coil spring material. They measure .810 and the stock ½ ton springs are supposed to measure .750. Here is a photo of the rear leaves. It looks like someone added three extra leaves. Can anyone verify the number of leaves for a ½ ton?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
