Re: Idle/clutch issue
Could be a broken motor mount..watch the engine while you push in on the clutch.

Re: Idle/clutch issue
Yeah. '67 (throttle linkage, not a cable) might be affected by a purely mechanical interference. That or you've got something bad wrong in the clutch/tranny that's causing a lot of drag.

Having a similar issue. Did you ever figure out the cause?

The OP hasn't been on the board since 10-07-2018 09:30 AM.
Does your truck have the throttle rod or cable linkage? LockDoc

Re: Idle/clutch issue
I know it’s an old dead thread. Thought it was worth a shot, he might get an email notification and reply.
My truck has a cable. When I clutch in, (in or out of gear) the Rpms increase. I don’t have a tach, so I’m not sure by how much. I would guess 200-300 rpm increase from a clutch out and neutral idle. |

That was a common problem with the linkage rod if the rubber motor mounts were separated or broken, but not so much with the cable. That's why they changed them over. I would still check the engine and bell housing rubber mounts and see how they look. LockDoc

Re: Idle/clutch issue
Thanks for the reply.
I’ll look it over for sure and have the wife work the clutch while I check for movement of the block. Any other known causes for a clutch in rise in RPM that I might look for? TIA |
