trans questions

I have an opportunity to get ahold of a 5.3 out of a 2000 4x4.

there are a couple of issues that I don't know how to handle.

I would be installing this in a 71 c20 long bed.

1. with the trans being for a 4x4 does that in any way or shape mess with the computer? I know I would need to come up with a 2 wd trans for it but are there any other issues to worry about
2 the donor truck was in a fire (cab back is gone, however nothing under the hood was touched. the only exception is the throttle cable is singed.) so obviously I cannot start it to hear anything. on a swap like this if I have read right all of the need harnesses are al under the hood, correct?

I have never messed with anything like this before so I am nervous about shelling out money on something that I don't know the condition of
