Oddball AM radio from 68?

Pulled this from a 68 I am parting. Looks like a truck radio, but you can see another set of numbers behind the lens and the push buttons are narrower. Any ideas on an application? It was installed just like an original down to the bracket at the back.

Re: Oddball AM radio from 68?

Maybe a GM replacement? Maybe the orignal broke and the owner purchased a new one though GM and they had made that change sometime in the production?

7293502=1966 Pontiac Tempest AM
EDIT: I'm going to look into that model number some more. I'm finding some inconsistencies with the tempest ID.

That's what I just found also. But, they have a different faceplate. However, the numerals are the same as the underlying numerals on 1968 "truck" radio pictured. So, it appears a 67-72 truck faceplate can (or has to) be screwed on the Pontiac radio without removing the Pontiac numerals.

Re: Oddball AM radio from 68?

You guys are good! I thought it was cool how the numbers behind fell in between the truck ones.
Thanks.

Re: Oddball AM radio from 68?

Is the Delco script, as seen on the eBay photo, also in the lower right corner of the background numerals? It could be hidden by the truck faceplate.

The only ones that I know of that are a drop-in are in vans from the mid-60s to about 1979 or 1980. Not sure on the exact years though.
