Help with AT shift indicator install

Need some help installing a new shift indicator into steering column shifter. Does anyone know how to insert a new shift indicator pointer? Picture below shows new plastic shift indicator that should slide into the housing on the steering column, right? It slides down into the housing however, it does not seem to go in all of the way to be flush with the housing or for the flexible tab to snap into anything. I don't want to force it then end up breaking it off or something. There is a small tab on the bottom that I'm guessing should click into something to hold it in place? Thoughts?

Re: Help with AT shift indicator install

It hooks into the cutout at base of the dash side of the shift indicator housing on your tilt.
