Girfreinds 63,,BIG OIL LEAK
SO I was chilling out with my freind at my place this weekend, when my girlfreind calls and "I have a Huge oil Leak! I'm at Bath and Body Works(go figure) and my oil pressure is down to 20 PSI, I added oil but when I run the engine it just runs out"
SO I jump in ol Rusty and head out there...sure enough HUGE FRESH PUDDLE OF OIL. I start looking everyewhere and check oil pan gasket dry...valve cover on drivers side is soaked in oil as is the hood and fire wall and carb, intake and drivers fender well. So it has to be from the top....squirting somehow. I look and look and nothing. So I tell her to run it...and I take a peek from under, and follow the trail...look at the oil pressure line and I see a fin of oil running along the end of the hose on the block. Bingo Bango, undo the line which is one of those plastic lines, cut a good section put it through the fittin (with help from my girlfreinds little hands, I kept dropping the damn fitting), threaded it on tight.and then its done. So I saved the day!!!! I felt very hesitant though due to the fact that her dad don't like anyone messing with her truck but him. I had no choice, and I knew it was something i could fix, so I did. I'm happy...it is a very little thing, but if I hadn't the knowledge that I have gained with my truck....I would have been one of those useless guys pointing and guessing instead of acting. So I was proud of myself...a small accomplishment....but an accomplishment none the less. Later. -Roger

Although fixing the sending line to the Oil Pressure gauge is a cool thing....
..I am more impressed with the fact that you have found a girlfriend who knows what an oil pressure gauge is, and can/will actually read it. Now THAT is what one would call a REAL accomplishment! GOOD JOB! |

A girlfriend that drives a '63 Chevy and actually knows about it! You are lucky!
I never liked plastic oil guage lines.....i would buy some copper line and use it instead. Much stronger.
