55-59 master cylinder outside frame?
Anyone do this? Did you buy a universal or one that was specific to the truck?

Re: 55-59 master cylinder outside frame?
why? plenty of room for mc and 7'' vacuum booster, 700r4, exhaust and a radio
those are more for the ad trucks that don't have the room i run a frame mounted hydroboost on my 58 truk i added a firewall mount remote reservoir during the build

Re: 55-59 master cylinder outside frame?
hydroboost uses power steering pump to make power brakes
7'' vac booster is the biggest you can put under the floor as for heat... not an issue as highsider stated my 58 truk has 27,000 miles without an issue as do all 55-59 trucks, seeing as the stock location is under the floor boards like highsider's pic shows the exhaust can be under the frame and still above the steps i ran mine similar to his but twice as often read my build to see more about the hydroboost i installed

Re: 55-59 master cylinder outside frame?
I don't think you have to worry about the exhaust heat unless you put the exhaust pipe very near the booster. As already mentioned, you have room to route the pipe so that there's a lot of space between it and the booster and still not be too low. I put a flat heat shield between my pipe and booster but I don't think I needed it as I had run my truck for a long time before I added it.

Re: 55-59 master cylinder outside frame?
Question: Can this frame mounted booster/master cylinder set-up be used with stock clutch pedal-standard transmission? Seems like I saw a caveat somewhere stating this kind of setup was for auto transmissions only all the present catalogs don't list any restrictions. I wonder if it would work with a floor shifted manual trans since there would be no 3 on the tree shifting rods passing in the area? Yes - No? Any input or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
