1962 C10 Engine Wiring

If you guys could help a brother out who is worn out and really needs to wrap things up before my truck goes in for inspection tomorrow evening

So please (I'm begging) do not flame me or direct me to the FAQ or electrical section

I've looked and could not find a 1962 C10 Engine Harness Schematic for 6 cylinder with Lights

If you can help that would be great if not - peace.

I have a 1962 C10 with stock instrument panel with lights (not gauges)

I've installed a 1964 283 V8 with points style distributor and a Pertronix conversion kit.

I'm trying to figure out how to make the engine harness work.

I'm told I need to eliminate (or go ahead) of the resistive wire to get the full 12 volts to the distributor.

White / Orange - Is that the resistive wire?

Pink - R on Starter Solenoid

Violet - S on Starter Solenoid

Dark Blue - Oil Pressure Sender

Dark Green - Temp Sender

Light Green - (Alternate) Temp Sender

TIA

Give me a minute I'll get my schematic out and check. I recently rewired mine.

Did the instructions on your pertronix tell you to eliminate resistor? if I recall some do some don't. the resisted wire should have a white cloth style insulation on it. you should not need to hook up wire to r terminal on solenoid this supplies 12 volts to coil on cranking for points type ign. violet is the s term. dark blue is oil. dark green should be temp. as far as light green do you have a cold idiot light? I don't remember. hope this helps

Just follow the wire originally connected to the + on coil. Just trace it all the way back to the firewall and replace it with 14g wire.

I contacted them and their tech said it would be better if I did eliminate the resistive wire to get the full 12V

I'm not sure either on the cold light I'll be honest - it's been four years and my truck did not have wiring from the firewall forward when I got it

I gotta check that dash panel out to be certain - drawing a blank

I have light green going from instrument panel to firewall at Engine Harness plug.

I have Dark Green, Dark Blue, Violet, Pink, and Light Green at the truck's dash harness firewall connection for the Engine Harness.

Re: 1962 C10 Engine Wiring

Ok last post pink goes from ign sw. to r term on starter then there is a jumper wire that goes from r terminal to coil + this tells me that pink is resisted and in crank position solenoid shoots 12v to coil. sorry for confusion this is quite different from later c10s.
